Learning from Japan

Collab’s Spring event, held in conjunction with the exhibition Naoto Fukasawa: Things in Themselves (11/2024 – 03/2025) featured distinguished makers, merchants and mentors discussing the influence of traditional Japanese crafts on contemporary woodworking. Guest panelists included Tadao Arimoto, Pittsburgh furniture maker; Miriam Carpenter, Bucks County artist; Shushi Yoshinaga, graphic designer and Drexel professor; and Robert Aibel, American Studio Craft expert. Moderated by exhibition curator Colin Fanning, the discussion was held in the Moderne Gallery on North American Street.
